Voyage Of Light is a grassroots travel project to supports rural communities living with no access of electricity and basic human needs, with self sustainable solutions, empowering our youth and educating our children. The core purpose of growing a movement of conscious explorers, a treehouse of passionate creators, who inspire to share the gift of light.

It has been six years now since I first started travelling, living as a nomad, sharing my adventures through photographic stories, self awareness and social projects. Somehow Europe and Africa has been a continent that I always felt inspired with but the same time nervously waiting for the right time, the strength and purpose for it. A purpose to explore the unknown.

My current mission now started in Sept 2018,  towards the West. First into Europe, via Finland, to travel by land to the south towards West Africa. Creating awareness of this project in Europe, and then exploring Morocco, Sahara Desert, Mauritania, Senegal and the beautiful fishing villages of Gambia.

Following the coastal routes, guiding me further south into rural villages. Next hopefully heading into Ghana and beyond West Africa. The main aim is to explore, locate and support those rural villages that will need our presences. Creating long term ideas and solutions for these underprivileged communities.

EXPLORING WEST AFRICA

Africa currently still has over 500 million people who still live with NO access of electricity, proper shelters or basic rights, with over 1.2 billion in population, most of the tribes are used to live with less or nothing, living with no electricity, with no clean drinking water or proper shelters. Children needing a basic education, families displaced or needing empowerment.

For this mission, we aim empower rural families, supporting communities with basic needs, farming projects and creating self sustainable solutions across West Africa. To start with, travelling into these rural villages, creating photographic projects of the African cultures and supporting these families as we explore the cultures of these ancestral lands.

To be there in presence to support these beautiful tribal communities, with our time, efforts and experiences.

“I hope we can all come together, with love and empathy, to support these communities and be part of something greater than us.” – Kiran Kreer

WHY AM I DOING THIS?

That’s a difficult question to answer, as for why I live this path of life or why this project?

I guess the short answer is that my journey brought us here. It’s been many years of exploring, the happenings of social projects, building shelters and relief aid. A discovery of my own life too.

Since the Philippines typhoon in 2013, it has been the life I found where I have felt balance, empowered and fulfilled. It’s what I’m passionate about ever since my first disaster relief mission. I feel much more alive when I’m working in rural communities, walking bare foot in villages, creating ideas and exploring.

I cannot just keep travelling knowing that there are those I cross path with less or nothing. Knowing families who had lost homes due to natural disasters or those who live mainly with no electricity, no proper homes or even an education. These are basic human rights.

As explorers or travellers, we cannot just keep traveling for sight seeing or a vacation, like a visitor or a tourist. While we know about the social issues and see the poverty around us, while we travel in their countries and villages. We are witnessing their lives as we live ours, as we explore and learn, educating ourselves as we travel across unknown spaces.
